FAQ ID: 1731   Updated: 11/13/2008 11:56:59 AM
802.1p Priority Tagging is a mechanism that provides network traffic class expediting and dynamic multicast filtering. For a network Switch to be compliant, it must be capable of grouping incoming LAN packets into separate traffic classes. Essentially, it provides a mechanism for implementing Quality of Service (QoS) at the MAC (Media Access Control) level.
