Highway Traffic Management

Indonesia's traffic congestion is among the highest in the world, leading to an increase in traffic-related accidents and fatalities. To address this important public safety issue, a comprehensive remote video monitoring system was implemented across the country. TRENDnet's suite of industrial fiber media converters, managed switch, and surveillance solutions played a key role in this initiative. The deployment aimed to enhance traffic management and welfare through advanced video surveillance, ultimately helping to reduce accidents, and improve traffic congestion and overall road safety.
The core of the remote video monitoring system was built around TRENDnet’s 24-Port Gigabit Layer 2 Managed Switch. Installed at the main surveillance hub, this switch served as the central node for handling and distributing video feeds to and from various remote locations. Advanced switch management features, such as IGMP snooping, were instrumental in efficiently managing multicast traffic, ensuring smooth and reliable video streaming. HDMI over IP receivers connected to the switch enabled the viewing of video feeds on large displays, while HDMI over IP transmitters linked to TRENDnet’s L2 Managed Switches provided high-definition video to HD PoE+ Network Video Recorders (NVRs). Hardened fiber media converters facilitated long-distance network connections, which was vital for the remote monitoring of live traffic conditions.
Engineered for extreme conditions, the industrial media converters are designed to withstand harsh temperatures (both hot and cold), vibrations, and shocks, making them ideal for the country’s demanding weather and outdoor environments. They were paired with TRENDnet IP cameras to deliver HD video monitoring capabilities. This seamless integration of durable networking equipment and high-performance cameras significantly enhanced traffic management and safety across the entire nation.
Rail Systems & Mass Transportation
Mass transportation systems, such as railways, trains, and buses, have increasingly embraced sophisticated technology to boost efficiency, security, and passenger experience. The integration of digital networks and advanced equipment have become pivotal in modernizing these systems. This infrastructure spans from networked digital maps, arrivals & departures screens, and ticket kiosks at transportation stations to onboard connectivity solutions that support a range of mobile services. Central to these systems are networked devices, such as switches, WiFi access points, fiber SFP modules, and surveillance cameras, all interconnected to ensure seamless operation and monitoring.
At railway stations, the deployment of networked digital maps and ticket kiosks facilitates better passenger navigation and ticket purchasing processes. Surveillance cameras are strategically placed throughout the station, and monitored through a centralized Network Video Recorder (NVR) located in a nearby control room. Access points, such as the TEW-925DAP WiFi 6 AP, ensure that passengers have access to WiFi connectivity, enhancing their overall travel experience. Additionally, a speaker system linked to the control room is used for pertinent announcements, providing real-time updates and information. All these components are integrated into a unified and cohesive network, managed from the control room equipped with a router, switches, an NVR(s), and ultra-fast 10G SFP+ modules to handle high-speed connections back to the main headquarters.

On board trains, connectivity solutions play a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency and passenger satisfaction. A networked EN50155 rail switch installed within the train connects and powers various network devices, such as surveillance cameras, WiFi access points, and the passenger info display system, to the train’s internal network. This onboard network ensures that all networked devices operate cohesively, providing continuous data flow and connectivity throughout the travel journey, enriching the functionality and protection of mass transportation.
Long-Range Surveillance for Financial Institutions

In an era where consumer protection and surveillance are paramount and required for financial institutions, a prominent bank headquartered in Asia sought to modernize its outdated surveillance system to enhance both the quality of video footage and overall business operations. The bank's primary objective was to streamline and centralize video monitoring operations to a single headquarter, while addressing challenges posed by regional branches scattered across the country. The solution involved deploying a state-of-the-art, long-range surveillance system that utilized TRENDnet’s advanced fiber and surveillance solutions. This upgrade was not only essential for improving surveillance, but also for ensuring that the monitoring process was more organized and manageable.
This project required robust, long-distance fiber networking solutions to link each branch across the country. TRENDnet’s fiber solutions, capable of spanning distances up to 49.7 miles, were integral in connecting regional locations to the central hub. The Fiber Chassis System, a legacy system replaced by fiber SFP switches, was pivotal in providing efficient management and power delivery for fiber media converters through a centralized system. Industrial fiber solutions were also required for use in this project in order to ensure the equipment could withstand the extreme temperatures encountered outdoors at various branch locations.
To enhance the monitoring capabilities, TRENDnet surveillance cameras were strategically installed in high-traffic areas, such as entrances, ATMs, and parking facilities. These cameras provided comprehensive coverage of critical areas. The use of PoE technology simplified the installation process by delivering both power and data over a single Ethernet cable, reducing the need for separate power sources, and separate power and data cables. This integration of TRENDnet’s long-distance industrial fiber converters and high-performance surveillance cameras, all supporting PoE technology, ensured a highly-effective and streamlined surveillance solution.

By leveraging TRENDnet’s robust fiber and surveillance solutions, this international bank was able to achieve its goal of centralizing monitoring while overcoming significant logistical and environmental hurdles. The use of high-quality fiber networking and PoE-enabled cameras not only improved the overall video quality, but also facilitated more efficient operations. This project highlights the importance of integrating innovative technologies to enrich surveillance infrastructure and maintain vigilant oversight across multiple locations.

Solar & Mobile Surveillance
The integration of green energy solutions is becoming increasingly prevalent, important, and in many cases, a requirement. A notable example of this is the mobile surveillance setups commonly found throughout retail parking lots. These systems are designed to provide thorough coverage and protection while utilizing renewable energy sources. This type of setup typically involves solar-powered components and wireless connectivity, making it both environmentally friendly and convenient for installation.
A combination of solar power and wireless technology ensures continuous operation and comprehensive coverage. An important piece to this system is a solar charge controller that converts solar power for use with other devices, including the TI-PG80B industrial PoE+ switch, and power supply. TRENDnet’s IP cameras (TV-IP1514PI) are mounted on light poles equipped with solar panels that charge the system, reducing and ultimately eliminating the reliance on traditional power sources.
The wireless infrastructure of each mobile unit includes an outdoor access point (TEW-841APBO) installed on the TEW-P01 pole mount, which connects back to other APs located at the main building. This setup ensures solid communication between the surveillance system and the central monitoring location. The main building houses additional surveillance cameras, a wired router, an NVR, and a switch, all working together to manage and record the surveillance footage.

TRENDnet’s 8-Port Hardened Industrial Gigabit PoE+ DIN-Rail Switch (TI-PG80) is a key component in the SAM4 smart conditioning monitoring system. This industrial switch, known for its durability and reliability, is designed to operate effectively in harsh industrial environments, such as warehouses, refineries, and factories. By connecting the motor monitoring system with TRENDnet’s industrial switch, the monitoring solution can continuously track the health of AC induction motors and various rotating equipment, including pumps, conveyors, and fans. The TI-PG80 industrial switch ensures that critical and time-sensitive data from the SAM4 system are transmitted reliably to decision-makers, allowing for proactive maintenance, and quick action when needed.
