TRENDnet has shattered the wireless networking speed record with its new 450 Mbps wireless gear! SmallNetBuilder, a review site dedicated to networking hardware solutions, performed a detailed review of TRENDNet’s first-to-market 450Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router (model TEW-691GR) paired with TRENDnet’s first-to-market 450Mbps Wireless N Gaming Adapter (model TEW-687GA).   When paired together the products generated an incredible top wireless throughput speed of 173 Mbps—a value never before produced by a wireless n (802.11n) based solution, and one that is easily 200% greater than the average real throughput generated by a current 300 Mbps router and adapter pair.

Tim Higgins from SmallNetBuilder commented on his review of the products stating, “I have to say that I'm surprised and maybe even have to eat a bit of crow here based on these results. I'm so accustomed to vendors over-hyping wireless products that I've learned to look carefully at every new-and-improved performance claim. And in most cases, they fall short of hyperventilated marketing claims. But it seems that, at least for a direct matchup of a Ralink RT3883F based router (TEW-691GR) and client bridge (TEW-687GA), that three stream N really can provide significantly higher throughput than you can get from any two-stream N product combination on the market. And whoda thunk that TRENDnet would be the folks to get this significant leap in 802.11n performance to market first? …The TEW-691GR and TEW-687GA are your best shot yet at 100 Mbps+ wireless bandwidth in locations other than the same room. So let's hear from you brave pioneers who are willing to take the plunge!”

Should I buy 200 or 500Mbps Powerline?
Have you ever wondered how accurate TRENDnet’s 70% GREENnet™ power savings claim is? TRENDnet was pleased to put our own technology to the test, and our results showed that the 70% power savings claim is not only accurate, but modest! We compared two identical switches' energy efficiency using power meters to measure the amps consumed throughout testing; the only difference between the two switches being that one switch utilized GREENnet™ power saving technology, while the other did not. When the switches were idle, the GREENnet™ switch was on average 82% more power efficient than its non GREENnet™ counterpart. When loaded and streaming HD video, the GREENnet™ switch proved 62% more energy efficient, resulting in a notable cumulative power savings.
