What is Gigabit Ethernet Technology?

Gigabit Ethernet offers 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps) which is 10 times faster than that of Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) and 100 times faster than that of Ethernet (10Mbps). Gigabit Ethernet is also referred to as the standard IEEE 802.3ab.
