A PoE splitter is used to power a non-PoE device by substituting the power supply for that device. For example, let's say you have a non-PoE camera you want to install into a location without easy access to a power source. You could easily run a PoE source to the camera's location using an Ethernet cable and connect it to the PoE splitter. The splitter in turn will connect to the non-PoE camera using the standard barrel connector to provide power to the camera. The splitter can provide power for 5V (2A), 9V (2A), or 12V (1.5A) devices with the included 2.0 or 2.5mm barrel connector. Please ensure you select the correct voltage prior to connecting any devices to the splitter and do not change the voltage while the splitter is powered.
A PoE injector is frequently referred to as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE). A PSE supplies PoE power to PoE Powered Devices (PD). Please ensure your PSE and PD are using the same PoE standards. TRENDnet PoE injectors support 802.3af, 802.3at, or 802.3bt standards. The adapters will not provide power for passive PoE devices or non-standardized PoE devices.
