FAQ ID: 353 Product: SwitchesUpdated:2/4/2005 8:52:33 PM
Full-duplex operation is a dedicated connection that does not need to detect for collision. Such connection can freely receive and transmit at the same time. If incoming and outgoing traffic is perfectly balanced, the throughput on existing cables could be as high as 20Mbps for Ethernet and 200Mbps for Fast Ethernet connections.
