SNMP Management Help

Use this page to define management stations as trap managers and to enter SNMP community strings. You can also define a name, location, and contact person for the switch.

System Options

Enter the following information about the switch, as needed:

Name
Enter a name to be used for the switch.
Location
Enter the location of the switch.
Contact
Enter the name of a person or organization.

Click Statistics to display SNMP system information about the switch.

Community Strings

Community strings serve as passwords and can be entered as one of the following:

Read only (RO)
Enables requests accompanied by this string to display MIB-object information.
Read write (RW)
Enables requests accompanied by this string to display MIB-object information and to set MIB objects.

Trap Managers

A trap manager is a management station that receives traps, the system alerts generated by the switch. If no trap manager is defined, no traps are issued. Create a trap manager by entering the IP address of the station and a community string.
